INTERVIEWS
Parker is certainly cut from a different cloth to most UK house DJs. Leaving his Essex home behind, he followed his heart to Spain, where he became a hard-working success story in Villamartin, running legendary night "Get Up", before spreading his wings to second home on radio.in a country where he`s a bigger name than many A-listers in the country of his birth. Splitting his time between the two venues, he`s a veteran and a producer with a growing reputation. This summer he`s teamed up with none other than Lex Marky, a team that may prove to be one of this season`s hits. We caught up with him to chat about being a Brit abroad,
Hi Parker. How are you and where are you?
Villamartin, Spain
You’re unusual in that you’re a Brit that relocated to Spain (back in 2003) What made you decide to go there?
As a kid, I knew that I was going to live abroad. I went there and stayed. Essex will always be my roots, but Spain will be my home forever. They Feed what I need - Essex for the hussle & excitement and Spain for the great lifestyle.
What were those first years in Spain like when it was really taking off for you?
Like anything - hard, lonely and exhausting but I was living a dream and feeding my passion so looking back it was amazing.
Spain's been neglected of late, with attention more on America in recent years. Why do you think this is?
Europeans were just born with the dance music inside us so it’s a feeling that comes naturally. In America, you have to force them to like it. Don’t get me wrong there is a great passion and a lot of people who are on top of it, but I mean what I say in an invisible feeling kind of way.
